Applications are considered during January of each year, except in the case of bona fide students, who may apply until the end of February. In exceptional circumstances, auditions are held at other times of the year. Membership is open to any singer who pays the prescribed fee, passes an assessment by the Director of Music or other designated person, and is accepted by the committee. Membership is always probationary in the first year, and will be confirmed by acceptance in the second year of application. The committee reserves the right to terminate membership at any time, should there be compelling reasons (musical or otherwise) to do so. Membership applications must be renewed annually. Members may take a leave of absence for up to one year without jeopardising their membership, provided they have notified the Secretary in writing, handed in a membership application form for that year, and paid any outstanding fees.

Membership fee
The membership fee for 2009 is R240 per person (R120 for pensioners and students) and is payable before the end of February.  Membership fees may be reduced or waived in deserving cases on written application. Only paid-up members may participate in a performance. 

Auditions
Auditions are held once a year – in January and/or February, with exceptional auditions held occasionally at other times of the year.

Rehearsals
Rehearsals are usually held each Monday at St Thomas's Church Hall, Rondebosch from 19:30 – 22:00.
Members are expected to arrive in good time to secure a place, and be ready to commence promptly.
